Midwest Airlines grew out of Kimberly-Clark Corporation's internal transportation service for executives. It formed K-C Aviation in 1969, providing aviation services to other companies and specializing in the meticulous customization of corporate aircraft. In 1984, K-C Aviation and Kimberly-Clark launched Midwest Express Airlines, which became a publicly traded company in 1995. In 2003, the carrier simplified its name to Midwest Airlines. TPG Capital purchased the airline in 2008, returning it to being a privately held entity.
Headquarters
Midwest Airlines is headquartered in Milwaukee, where its major hub is General Mitchell International Airport. The Midwest Airlines Maintenance Facility is located on the airport grounds. A secondary hub is located in Kansas City. Midwest flies to the East and West Coasts, as well as many destinations in between, from Milwaukee and Kansas City.
Equipment
The Midwest Airlines fleet includes Boeing 717 and McDonnell Douglas MD-80 jet aircraft. Both aircraft types offer the same award-winning service and buy-onboard dining service, Best Care Cuisine.
Check-in
Midwest recommends that passengers check-in at least 90 minutes before departure. You can also check-in online, 1.5 to 24 hours before the flight departs, or use one of the self-service kiosks in Milwaukee or Kansas City.
Baggage
Carry-on: One carry-on item permitted per passenger, with dimensions no greater than 21 x 9.5 x 14 in. One personal item is also allowed, such as a purse, briefcase, umbrella, etc.

Passenger Change Details
Refundable tickets can be fully refunded or changed. For non-refundable tickets, if you cancel your reservation the cost of the ticket can be used against any other flight departing within a year, for a $100 change fee. Any changes to the flight will also be charged $100. Name changes cost $50.
Child Fares
Infants under the age of two years fly for 50 per cent of the adult rate when accompanied by an adult over 12 years. Youth fares are available for those ages two to 21. Tickets must be bought 14 days in advance and must include a Saturday night stopover. Tickets are non-refundable.
Senior Fares
Available to travelers 55+, though no companion fare is included. To book a senior fare you need to call the reservations number (listed below).
Pets
Small dogs are allowed to travel in the cabin in a soft-sided pet carrier for a cost of $100 each way. For a fee of $75 each way, you can check pets in to the hold. You need a certificate of health from a veterinarian that has been issued within 10 days of the travel date. Certificates normally expire in 30 days, so if you're traveling for longer than this you'll need one for the return journey as well. You must reserve your pet travel by calling the reservation number. Snub-nosed dogs and cats (such as Chow Chows, pugs or Siamese cats) will only be carried if the temperature is not expected to exceed 75 F (24 C) at any point in the journey.
